We are Rob, Carmel and Steve and we have been competing in drag racing since 1980. We started racing with a purpose built Jaguar engine dragster which during the subsequent 3 years earned us many awards.
In 1984 we moved up to new more powerful racer incorporating an American V8 and again with this car we achieved many awards
In 1986 we moved up to the fuel altered class in the ever increasing demand for more speed and quicker times, with this car we held the European Speed Record for the class with a speed of 217mph
It was in 1990 we decided to move up to our current class of Top Alcohol. This class involves racing other cars from all over Europe including France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, and England. In our Inaugural year we became the Quickest and Fastest british car.
In 1996 we purchased a TFX engine, which once again moved us forward in times and speed, with this set up we achieved our record time of 6.05 seconds and a top speed of 228mph. In 1997 we won the British Championship setting a new PB of 6.03 seconds and top speed of 232 mph
In 1998 we invested in a new supercharger for the car, which has helped us win the British Championship for the third time along with finishing Fourth in the FIA European events. Not only did we retain our British Championship we also ran a best time of '5.89 seconds' the fastest ever by a British car in Top Alcohol racing.
The 1999 season saw the team enter its tenth year of competing in Top Alcohol. During the year we set a new personal best time of '5.78' seconds with a top speed of 241.8 mph and retained our MSA British Championship Crown. For 2000 a new Bob Meyer Race car was comisioned to see Turner Racing compete for the first time ever in America. We had some teething trouble with the new set-up but resolved problems back in the UK where we won the MSA Top Methanol title for the fourth year!
The 2001, saw us fighting fit with a new spare engine we were able to push the set-up harder and won both the MSA and FIA European Top Methanol Championship - Picking up our personal best en route with a 5.73/248mph run.
The final meeting of Santa Pod took the blower off the engine (and took one engine apart). So here we are for 2002 with a new PSI blower and a new set of lessons to learn.
2002 saw us run a new personal best time of 5.57 at 250mph. Obtained the Track Record at Shakespeare County Raceway, a 5.61.
We retained the MSA British Top Methanol Drag Racing Championship for the seventh time, six years in concession.
We came third in the European FIA Championship
2005 saw once again take the MSA British Top Methanol Championship for the eighth time
We also took second place in the European FIA Championship
